Cows morning shadows from here life is like toyland hills behind closed eyes slow love together the open door is smiling falling apple sound wind snatching down leaves rain on the saddest window thoughtless I'm smiling English rose walking in camouflage the plain trees a life ending day darkness wind and rain a heron in the stream still as one men sit down slow love together the open door is smiling falling apple sound

Avondale 03:25
Through the leaves go you and I down by the river walking it's come around just us again once again we're walking here wind and forest sing for us wild music like a rolling sea flying clouds and moonlight once again we're walking here Avondale time goes leaves a ring on a tree plough all those years of lines on me all our seed is come and gone come and gone once again we're walking through Avondale once again we're walking with you Avondale

Blessed by good fortune where do I send my thank you to kind father warm hearted mother no beating in the schoolroom a warm bed milk and honey growing up on old farm land that looks out over the sea on this last day of heatwave in shade with the smokers outside the Silver Tassie and the shiny poplar trees and here I sit and sip my wine sunlit fiftyseven quick let's go before the tarmac melts to my wheels and we push on under the chesnut trees where the streets run into the fields who do I send my thank you to God or good fortune well no conclusions just cycle on home and here I sit and sip my wine sunlit fiftyseven

Gaoler won't you open up and speak to me sometimes through the bars gaoler I need a room with a view of green hills and swallows and farms without you is doing time without you is doing time there's not much room here in this cell for dreaming you locked me away from your eyes gaoler won't you have a change of heart and reach down those keys for the lock without you is doing time without you is doing time gaoler won't you open up and speak to me sometimes through the bars

Bon Voyage 04:24
Old river how do you like this high tide there's a big ship turning on the river slips it's moorings and barely moving barely moving wherever you're bound I wish you bon voyage bon voyage live cargo propellers churning ropes are in and the bows are turning diesel burning me I'll stay here by this window in the welding flashes and the rusting shipping rusting away wherever you're bound I wish you bon voyage bon voyage and you're smoke goes before you wherever you're bound and your smoke goes before you old river how do you like this high tide these old steamers no longer useful return to grace beneath your surface beneath your surface wherever you're bound I wish you bon voyage bon voyage

Philadelphus 04:32
Long summer evenings moths and the flowers black dog in shadows the silence falling on my head and in this garden and everything becoming one until the insect on my fingernail not thinking the scent of philadelphus hangs on the corner the scent of philadelphus falls timeless darkness hides borders leaf and vine intertwine short life we cling to grace fills the flowers closing up after the bees have come and gone and in what dreams to the oakleaf sweat they feed on the scent of philadelphus hangs on the corner the scent of philadelphus falls timeless and everything is reaching for the sun and the showers lusting for the light and the seeds drink in the rain and the pollen wanders on through the night the scent of philadelphus hangs on the corner the scent of philadelphus falls timeless

Too Late 04:26
Lost love of mine dancing on the rain corning through the clouds on a silver plane I've been waiting so long I turn to blue I fool myself with dreams that won't come true all the shallow romance I've been through all the self delusion I've been through oh and you come back, and you come back too late, too late I was doing fine looking forward in time knowing that is not a clever way to climb now everything's changed the bells won't ring the ropes are twisted and the birds don't sing fallen smashed to pieces brittle wings oh and you come back, and you come back too late, too late lost love of mine dancing on the rain corning through the clouds on a silver plane I've been waiting so long I turn to blue i fool myself with dreams that won't come true I fool myself.

The raven is rising and saying goodbye to his lover on the island and higher in spirals and over the sea on the heat from the island the sailboats are racing all over the bay right to the horizon and you in yellow and the gorse in flower and my arm is your pillow and the gorse in flower and the love that I feel now could fill all those sails and blow them on for ever but the tide is so strong here that the waves cannot stay to play on the island and you in yellow and the gorse in flower and my arm is your pillow and the gorse in flower

Sleep 03:58
Sleep little baby sleep pretty baby let me rock you In the sunset let me rock you In the sunset go to sleep pretty one to dreamland you will come just your tiny fingers moving just your tiny fingers moving you don't know anything of pain you just laugh in the rain someday you'll be shining and someday you'll be smiling in your big man's shoes in your big man's shoes and I'll be with you when the stars appear and the moonlight on your face so dear till you wake up in the morning the wonder of the morning you don't know anything of pain you just laugh in the rain you're a new world you change everything my winter wasteland you turn to spring so fragile on my shoulder dreaming on my shoulder you don t know anything of pain you just laugh in the rain just your tiny fingers moving sleep little baby sleep pretty one let me rock you in the sunset

Cold Light 04:03
Its been raining here for three weeks now and songs go down the drain and cars go by and their bow waves leave you dripping cursing dumb and going home I'm listening to the silence of birds and I'm caught in a cold light by the moon the trees are tired of giving shelter and they're leaking leaning down the cattle standing in the ditch their heat is rising steam and somewhere up there I can hear that lost homing plane and I'm caught in a cold place by the moon the sea has lost her sense of humour and the icecap is undone the sun can't find its way through clouds and the frost it rules supreme and all the men of science do is to prove each other wrong and I m caught in at cold light by the moon and I'm caught in a cold place by the moon

Love comes calling every day but it doesen't knock very loud did'nt want to wake you from your dreams wind blows the curtains in sun shines on the wall and everything is older than before and everything is older than before and it's all reborn but it's older than before butterflies have been around before the mountains and the towns black eyes on wings to keep me away corn falls before the blade dust rises from the wheels I'm thinking that it's all gone round again again and everything is older than before and it all comes round but it's older than before love comes calling every day but doesn't knock very loud did'nt want to wake you from your dreams and everything is older than before and it's all reborn but it's older than before
